Today’s 3-Hint Quiz:
Here’s a brief explanation of the hints:
Its Arabic word is “qahwah”, which in a way sounds like “coffee”. If that was your answer, then you got it right! And you read it right. In Indonesia, they have a special kind of coffee made from animal droppings!
Here’s for this week’s 3-hint quiz!
Hint 1: Some might think this food came from France, but actually, it’s from the US!
Hint 2: This food is usually paired with hamburgers, but of course, you can eat it just by itself, too!
Hint 3: Be careful with this, as just a large pack of this contains a whopping number of 500 calories!
I’ll reveal the answer next week!

Today’s Album:
For today, we’ll cover someone in the experimental department. Now, you might be wondering what that means. It simply means that their songs/music style are a little different from what we usually hear and listen to. Artists in this genre have to be extra careful as one change in how their songs are could put them in the “pop” or “rock” category. For today, let me introduce Moses Sumney. He is an American singer-songwriter and has released two albums so far. I’d like to introduce his latest album, “Grae”, which has 20 songs. I particularly enjoyed listening to “Cut Me” and for more songs, give his NPR video a listen!
The said album is available on most streaming services, such as Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, etc. Unfortunately, you can’t stream all of his songs for free, but he has made some music videos on his Youtube channel, so if he piques your interest, please visit his channel!
In connection with last week’s column, Anna Wintour, the head of Vogue, and the inspiration for a few movies, namely “Devil Wears Prada”, has apologized for the lack of African-American employees in her company. She said that she takes full responsibility for it, but then it raises the question that did she apologize because she’s sincerely sorry or because it is what a lot of people in position are doing? Give the article a listen and let me know what you think!
— Is this jacket made of leather?
(A) No, but this one over here is.
(B) Sure, if my manager agrees.
(C) You should wear a jacket.
—
— Is this jacket made of leather?
(A) No, but this one over here is.
(B) Sure, if my manager agrees.
(C) You should wear a jacket.
Are you keeping social distance? Are you putting on a mask? Are you trying to stay home except when it’s necessary? Keep going like that to overcome the coronavirus!
When I was a high school student”で、”When”が従位接続詞です。
I was playing guitar in a band”がメインの節で、主節といいます。
When I was a high school student”「私が高校生のとき」だけでは文として変ですよね。
”I was playing guitar in a band”「
Despite what’s going on in the world, I hope you’re doing well.
For today’s article, it will be a little political.

Today’s 3-Hint Quiz:
Here’s a brief explanation of the hints.
I apologize for the confusion. In the previous article, I wrote “east of Japan”, but I wanted to say was “west of Japan”.West of Japan, would cover outside of Japan, however western Japan, would be the west side of Japan, for example, Kanazawa, Tottori, and Hiroshima.
If your answer was “South Korea”, then you got it right!
Here’s for this week’s 3-hint quiz!
Hint 1: This is a brewed drink made from roasted beans.
Hint 2: The word for this is almost the same in most countries. Before the English language, it originally came from the Arabic language.
Hint 3: In Indonesia, they have a special kind of _______. An animal called a “palm civet” partially digests this and they make a drink out of it.
I’ll reveal the answer next week!

Today’s Album:
We’ve covered two pop artists for the past two weeks. Today, let’s cover a band in the rock genre. This is “Cafe Racer” with their third album, “Shadow Talk”. When I listen to the tracks in the album, I feel like I’m watching a collection of retro videos about teenagers walking around the city. It feels light and aloof, despite carrying deep meanings to its songs.
This is their track called “Faces”. Personally, my favorite is Zenith. It’s more upbeat compared to some of the songs in the album, and it just makes you want to move your head to the beat!
The said album is available on most streaming services, such as Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, etc. You can also stream it on bandcamp for free! (Just click the music player and it will redirect you to the website!)
Stay tuned for next week’s recommendation!

Something urgent and important has been on-going around the world. I’m certain you may have heard of it already, but people all over the world are addressing a social issue that needs to be tackled. This is for the movement, “Black Lives Matter”, wherein people fight for equality. A few days ago, there was a demonstration in Shinjuku regarding this social issue. Here is a video clip, together with people being interviewed:
