Today’s 3-Hint Quiz:

Here’s a brief explanation of the hints:

People in Persia wore these shoes when they’re farming because it helps them step on soil better, but when it came to Europe, it became a style icon for men. If your guess was a pair of high heels, you’re right! It was first worn a woman in the 16th century when a noblewoman wanted to appear taller in her wedding!

Here’s for this week’s 3-hint quiz!

Hint 1: This game was produced by a very well-known company in and out of Japan!
Hint 2: When they made this game, it was their last chance to save the company, so some people would say it was their final attempt to survive!
Hint 3: This video game series is the eighth-best selling video game of all time!

I’ll reveal the answer next week!

Today’s ESL Recommendation:

From this week onward, I will be recommending websites/resources for you to continue studying English even during your break time! For this week, let me introduce this website:

https://www.dialectsarchive.com/

This website is a collection of accents from different countries when they speak English. I think this will be beneficial for you because one, it’s a fun way to find out how we all speak the same language, but still have sound like we’re speaking in our native tongue! Two, it makes you realize that for now, even if you don’t sound like a native, what matters is listening comprehension, as well as being able to express yourself well in English.

You can use this website when you want to practice transcribing, overlapping & shadowing, or for listening comprehension.

I hope this helps!

Today’s Column:

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-china-53256034

For this week, here’s a bit of a frightening news. China has implemented a new law for Hong Kong wherein they cannot oppose what the Chinese gov’t would say or do. Otherwise, they would consider it as terrorism and it could lead to up to life imprisonment. After reading the article, it reminded of the Philippines’ latest news which was the “Anti-Terror Bill”. What do you think of this article?

Remember to take care of yourself and stay safe.
