Hello there, I hope you are doing well.

As what we have all heard, the PM is stepping down.

What are your opinions about it?

With regard to the recent news we all heard, the current PM has planned to give the position to someone else. Who it is and what he will do are the questions we all have in our mind. Together with his conference last week, he has also announced that he will give free COVID-19 vaccinations for as many people as possible. The article says that it will provide to the elderly, and people with underlying diseases first. What is your opinion regarding this?

Today’s ESL Recommendation:

https://www.linguee.com

Aside from dictionary.com, which I have recommended before, this is another language resource I use when I can’t seem to understand a word or I don’t know how to translate it in Japanese. For example, we have the word “budget” in Japanese. I can explain what it is in English, but it doesn’t translate quite well in Japanese. Through this website, I can provide sample examples of how it is used in both English and Japanese articles/text. Give it a look and see if it works for you, too!

Good luck and I hope this helps!

Today’s Column:

https://www.bbc.com/future/article/20200902-why-people-object-to-laws-that-save-lives

An interesting article about theories of why some people object to wearing masks. The article starts with how some people back in the ’90s were opposed to wearing a seatbelt. Personally, wearing a seatbelt is now normal and necessary, especially when you’re in front. Which made me think that for the children now, would they think that it’s necessary to wear a face mask when they’re older? Much like the Japanese particularly during hay season? Read the article to find out more.
