Let’s Save Tigers!

Hello there, I hope you are doing well.

Were you also awakened by the earthquake warning earlier? I sure was!

Apparently, the alert earlier was a false one. According to the article, Japan Meteorological Agency made a mistake with the exact location of the earthquake. They were not wrong about it, but its location is where they made a mistake. It occurred below Tori Island, where no one is living there. Because of this, some train lines were delayed, including Toei Oedo’s Line, which got delayed for about 90 minutes.

Today’s Rebus:

Here’s a brief explanation of the hints:

As you may have noticed “give” and “get” have been repeated four times, and “give” came before “get”, so the phrase, would be “forgive and forget”!

This is what you do when you are making things work / patching things up with enemies. You forgive and forget what they’ve done and move on from it! In Japanese it would be a little different, it would be “水に流す”.

Here’s for this week’s rebus:

HINT: When someone is explaining something to you and of course you don’t know what they’re talking about at first, but then after some time, you begin to know what they’re talking about and you two agree and _____________ it!

I’ll reveal the answer next week!

Today’s ESL Recommendation:

https://www.friends.eslvideo.com/

Have you ever been in that situation where you asked someone how to improve your English and all they said was you should watch TV shows in English? Well, this week’s ESL recommendation is a proof that watching something fun can actually improve your English! So far, the website only has 13 parts, but they are still adding more videos. Don’t worry, even with just 13 parts, it’s filled with comprehension exercises, as well as some listening/reading practice. You can even try overlapping and shadowing!

Good luck and I hope this helps!

Today’s Column:

On another note, here’s some good news! Recent news shows that the population of tigers have been slowly increasing. I didn’t know this, but these five countries, namely India, China, Nepal, Russia, and Bhutan, are doing their best to preserve tigers. They added that the main cause for the decrease in their population is loss of habitat due to deforestation and illegal logging. On our part, what we can do is make sure that the things we buy are sustainable and cruelty-free.

Remember to take care of yourself and stay safe.
