Due to the torrential rain, buildings and houses were destroyed and people were urged by their local governments to evacuate. According to what is on the site above, some were even stranded in their workplaces because of the flood. Now, this raises the question, where should the people evacuate and to prevent this from happening in the future, how will the government take action, in addition to the pandemic we’re facing?

Today’s 3-Hint Quiz:

Here’s a brief explanation of the hints:

It was said that the company’s director didn’t have any other choice after releasing their final game, in order to save their company, which means that they were relying solely on this video game. If you guessed “Final Fantasy”, then you’re right! I think this just goes to show that you should give everything to achieve your dreams!

Here’s for this week’s 3-hint quiz!

Hint 1: He is a Dutch post-impressionist painter whose works were only publicly appreciated after his death.
Hint 2: Due to his mental illness, he cut off his left ear.
Hint 3: Right now, you can see his artwork, “Sunflowers” at the National Museum of Western Art in Ueno!

I’ll reveal the answer next week!

Today’s ESL Recommendation:

https://ja.duolingo.com/

This application is something I have used for quite some time when I learned German. It’s something you have to check everyday and it only takes 20 minutes of your time, at most. It covers basic sentences at first and goes to more complicated ones when you progress. It doesn’t necessarily focus on vocabulary or pronunciation. Rather, it specializes on daily conversation sentences and when to use them. I highly recommend it, especially when you’re on the train. I suggest studying a different language IN ENGLISH. That way, you get to learn two new languages!

I would like to add that learning from Duolingo wouldn’t be enough. I still think it’s best to have a language exchange partner to maximize how much you’re learning!

Good luck and I hope this helps!

Today’s Column:

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-australia-53335745

For this week’s international news, Australia will have a second lockdown due to another spike in Coronavirus cases. That means that restaurants can serve takeaway food only, schools are closed, and people can only go on for necessary reasons. This is alarming not only for Australia, but for other countries, too, because that means they might implement another lockdown / state of emergency again. How about you? What are your thoughts on this matter

Remember to take care of yourself and stay safe.
